MAC Girl About Town Creme Lipstick

MAC Girl About Town Creme Lipstick

I tripped and fell into the MAC store. I didn’t mean to. I did not.

I was in the downtown Nassau, Bahamas area so I decided to go into the MAC store just to “look around” and I ended up purchasing a lipstick in the shade “Girl About Town.”

“Girl About Town” has an amplified cream finish and is described as a bright fuchsia with blue undertones. The texture of this lipstick is very smooth. I find that although I think you can find MAC dupes, they’ll never feel as good as MAC creme formulas.

This lipstick is also long lasting. I wore it to work yesterday and it stayed on for about 6 hours. It didn’t make it past lunch though because your girl goes HAM.

Below is a swatch for “Girl About Town” (bottom), which retails for $15 can be of course purchased at MAC or online at macy’ If you’re in The Bahamas like I am, there are MAC counters downtown Bay St. and in John Bull (Mall at Marathon). It is $15 there as well.

I’m so excited to announce to you all my first magazine feature!

When noted Bahamian photographer/videographer Farreno of e-life 242 magazine contacted me asking me to write a fashion advice column, I was more than happy to do so.

In my column, I write about ways to rock a crop top, one of fashions hottest trends right now.

Read my section here at:

I also made a video lookbook showcasing the three outfits.

I’m entirely grateful to Farreno and e-life 242 magazine for the opportunity to showcase my talent and widen my audience.

NYX Liners and Nail Polishes

L-R | Purple Rain, Orange, White

Because I’ve started making makeup tutorials on my beauty and fashion YouTube channel, I’m slowly adding more makeup items to my collection.

I’m staring off small with just few liners. I picked up NYX lipliners in Purple Rain and Orange. Purple Rain matches perfectly with my favorite lipsticks at the moment, Berry Haute by Revlon which is a dupe for Up the Amp by MAC. I bought orange to go with my various orange lipsticks because while it is possible to get away with no lip liner with some colors and types of lipsticks, cream orange lipstick does not fit into that category for me.

I bought the white eyeliner to replace my NYX Jumbo Pencil in the color Milk. I like this eye pencil a lot and I will continue to use it as an eye shadow base, but I’m not as an eyeliner. I find it difficult to apply it to my waterline. It always smears and sometimes it even gets on my eyeball. It’s probably due to my lack of experience and maybe I can benefit from using a brush, but I prefer the manageability of the slimmer NYX pencil.

Please see swatches below for Berry Haute next to Purple Rain. I included a thin and thick line to show that it is buildable.

I also picked up a few nail polishes over the past few weeks. It’s just one of those things I find hard to leave the beauty store without. From L-R in the photo below: Kleancolor “Neon Purple,” “Mystic Grass,” Sally Hansen “Gun Metal,” and L.A. Colors “Wired.”

Beyonce Looks Regal on the Cover of Flaunt Magazine

posted on: July 11, 2013

Beyonce looks absolutely stunning in these photos taken for Flaunt magazine in 2011 by photographer Tony Duran.

I don’t know if I’ve ever written a Beyonce post before, but I am an avid Beyonce fan. I feel like I’ve grown up with her because I’ve been listening to her music from her “No, No, No” days. I sang along to “Bills, Bills, Bills,” “Bugaboo,” and “Say My Name” like nobody’s business. I’m not one of those crazy stans who go after people’s necks when they say something negative about her, but I’ve been known to shut down a few people who love to say means things about her just because they heard somebody else say it.

I haven’t seen Beyonce look this gorgeous in a while. Yes, she is a pretty woman, but these photos, especially the ones where it looks like she was dipped a tub of Jesus touched glitter, are absolutely amazing. It’s a side of her I’ve never seen photography wise and trust me I’ve seen a lot of Beyonce photos. When I was in my early teens, I used to save pictures of her to my computer for no reason. I’m serious y’all, I’m a real Beyonce fan.

Here’s an excerpt of what Beyonce had to say in her interview with Flaunt magazine.

Flaunt: Gay men are drawn to you and empowered by you, as they have been to “gay icons” Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Cher, and Madonna. What is it about you, and those women, that gay men love?

Beyonce: “I’m flattered if I’m in the company of those great women. I think they love that we are bold, unafraid to love, and flaunt our sexuality and strength.”

Flaunt: Some were critical at your participating in a Pepsi campaign after you moved your body for childhood obesity. Where is the balance between your career objectives and your philanthropy?

Beyonce: “Pepsi is a brand I’ve grown up seeing my heroes collaborate with. The company respects musicians and artistry. I wouldn’t encourage any person, especially a child, to live life without balance. When you work out, take care of your body, rehearse as hard as I rehearsed in the commercial, I think it’s great to have a Pepsi or Diet Pepsi when you want one. It’s all about choices.”

Flaunt: Millennials make up a huge part of your fan base. Thousands of them have responded to your Instagram hashtag #beygood to promote goodwill. How do you feel about the media’s take on youth as the “me me me” generation, or a generation of “slack-tivists” [people who are activists online but not in the real world]?

Beyonce: “At my concerts I see the opposite. They are engaged in making a difference. We have collected tons of donations that will go towards creating jobs and helping people get jobs. That’s something I want to celebrate. For Chime for Change we raised awareness and over $4 million in one day for equal rights for girls everywhere. So many people at that concert were young. They are more socially responsible than they get credit for.”

You have always carefully sculpted your image and controlled public access to your off-stage life. Is there anything to envy about stars who don’t care about safeguarding their private lives?

I have chosen to keep certain aspects of my life private. But I also love sharing what makes me happy, especially through photography.

Is there a sex scandal in history that you find not so scandalous, and instead just kinda awesome?

Antony and Cleopatra. The legend of that love affair affected history and lives to this day.

Flaunt: A number of magazines list the top X number of ways to please your lover. Anything missing on these lists typically?Beyonce: “If you have to read those lists, you’re already in trouble.”

Flaunt: What bores you?

Beyonce: “Lack of creativity. [source][photo source]

I agree fully with Beyonce about being bored with lack of creativity. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but one of the reasons I’m never bored is because I’m always thinking of ways to be creative whether on my natural hair YouTube channel and blog or over here on this blog and my Fashion channel.
