Pandora Bay Street Turns Two!

posted on: May 20, 2017

Y’all. I never get invited to events as a blogger. So, when I saw a personal invite to Pandora Bay Streets‘ 2nd anniversary event, “Petals and Punps” in my inbox, I was taken aback.

I even called the store to find out more about the event.

Because the event called for pumps, I knew I would face a dilemma. I don’t own one pair of fashionable, yet comfortable pumps. I decided on a pair of pinky nude pumps that I bought from gojane.com more than a year ago. I wore these to a graduation service and let me tell you. My feet were on fire after a few hours in these babies. I could barely walk to my car.

Because of the pink undertone in the pumps, I knew exactly what I would wear with it: a mauve dress that was gifted to me by gojane.com. It was a match made in heaven. Though it’s slightly maternity-ish, I love how angelic this dress makes me look and feel!

I wore my hair in the same style I wore to work that day: a twisted bun. You can find the tutorial on my YouTube channel, Brittany Kyss.

When I got to the event, my anti-social ass I felt out of place. I’m what you call a social introvert. It’s very hard for me to just go up to complete strangers and strike up a conversation. I stood in the corner and after about 5 minutes of pure awkwardness, I called my boyfriend and told him to back for me asap. (In retrospect, I find that embarrassing. But when that anxiety kicks in. Girl. ) Shortly after, I was greeted by the pleasant face of Eslaine Croes, who sent me the invitation to the event. She asked me if I wanted a drink and invited me to come and stand by her and her colleagues. I was a little relieved and had to call bae back to say, “false alarm.” Oops.

After a while, I started to see the familiar faces of bloggers whom I follow on social media: Ianthia Smith, Aneka Stewart, Conesha Knowles, and Tracy-Ann Perpall. I felt more comfortable.

I found myself so comfortable, that I bought a ring. Mind you, I had no intentions of spending money, but when I looked at the catalog of their new collection, I sorta kinda couldn’t help myself. Hey, it was VAT free. The ring is rose gold and it’s called “Radiant Elegance.” You can find it here, on Pandora’s website. What I like about the Pandora Rose collection is that the metal isn’t overly pink, so it looks quite similar to yellow gold.

I not a fan of silver, and Pandora’s gold hand chain is beyond this teacher’s budget, so this was my first Pandora purchase for myself. I’m no stranger to the brand though. I’ve bought two of my best friends a charm and a ring, and last Christmas, I bought my mom a silver bracelet and a charm (pictured below).

Pandora had a raffle at the event and a lucky lady won some Pandora goodies. I was slightly jealous, but when I got home and saw the gift that Pandora gave to the bloggers, I was ever so pleased and grateful.  It’s a dazzling silver shoe charm. I gave it to my mom since I don’t have a bracelet as yet.

I’m quite happy and appreciative that Pandora Bay Street invited bloggers to this event because I feel that many (not all) brands in The Bahamas don’t see the importance of bloggers because they don’t realize how much influence we have. Five of us were there, and ALL of us posted on our social media platforms.

I do see brands in The Bahamas becoming more receptive to bloggers in the future though.

Speaking of the future, what I do know is that whenever I buy a gold Pandora bracelet, I will buy it from Pandora on Bay Street.

Naomi Campbell Covers October 2013 issue of Harper's Bazaar Spain

Photographed by Xevi Muntane, noted supermodel Naomi Campbell graces the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Spain October 2013 issue. She looks absolutely gorgeous.

Photoshop is fashion’s most well known secret, but I have to give to Ms. Campbell because after all these years, she can still make you feel some type of way just by looking at a photo.

The shoot was styled Juan Cebrián, hair by Sir John, makeup by Snowden Hill, and manicure from Liza Smith.

She’s is serving some serious face and I’m 100% here for it. Make no mistake, Naomi can still “outmodel” your fav, but just  in case you’ve forgotten how gorgeous Naomi was, allow me to remind you:

Beyonce Looks Regal on the Cover of Flaunt Magazine

posted on: July 11, 2013

Beyonce looks absolutely stunning in these photos taken for Flaunt magazine in 2011 by photographer Tony Duran.

I don’t know if I’ve ever written a Beyonce post before, but I am an avid Beyonce fan. I feel like I’ve grown up with her because I’ve been listening to her music from her “No, No, No” days. I sang along to “Bills, Bills, Bills,” “Bugaboo,” and “Say My Name” like nobody’s business. I’m not one of those crazy stans who go after people’s necks when they say something negative about her, but I’ve been known to shut down a few people who love to say means things about her just because they heard somebody else say it.

I haven’t seen Beyonce look this gorgeous in a while. Yes, she is a pretty woman, but these photos, especially the ones where it looks like she was dipped a tub of Jesus touched glitter, are absolutely amazing. It’s a side of her I’ve never seen photography wise and trust me I’ve seen a lot of Beyonce photos. When I was in my early teens, I used to save pictures of her to my computer for no reason. I’m serious y’all, I’m a real Beyonce fan.

Here’s an excerpt of what Beyonce had to say in her interview with Flaunt magazine.

Flaunt: Gay men are drawn to you and empowered by you, as they have been to “gay icons” Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Cher, and Madonna. What is it about you, and those women, that gay men love?

Beyonce: “I’m flattered if I’m in the company of those great women. I think they love that we are bold, unafraid to love, and flaunt our sexuality and strength.”

Flaunt: Some were critical at your participating in a Pepsi campaign after you moved your body for childhood obesity. Where is the balance between your career objectives and your philanthropy?

Beyonce: “Pepsi is a brand I’ve grown up seeing my heroes collaborate with. The company respects musicians and artistry. I wouldn’t encourage any person, especially a child, to live life without balance. When you work out, take care of your body, rehearse as hard as I rehearsed in the commercial, I think it’s great to have a Pepsi or Diet Pepsi when you want one. It’s all about choices.”

Flaunt: Millennials make up a huge part of your fan base. Thousands of them have responded to your Instagram hashtag #beygood to promote goodwill. How do you feel about the media’s take on youth as the “me me me” generation, or a generation of “slack-tivists” [people who are activists online but not in the real world]?

Beyonce: “At my concerts I see the opposite. They are engaged in making a difference. We have collected tons of donations that will go towards creating jobs and helping people get jobs. That’s something I want to celebrate. For Chime for Change we raised awareness and over $4 million in one day for equal rights for girls everywhere. So many people at that concert were young. They are more socially responsible than they get credit for.”

You have always carefully sculpted your image and controlled public access to your off-stage life. Is there anything to envy about stars who don’t care about safeguarding their private lives?

I have chosen to keep certain aspects of my life private. But I also love sharing what makes me happy, especially through photography.

Is there a sex scandal in history that you find not so scandalous, and instead just kinda awesome?

Antony and Cleopatra. The legend of that love affair affected history and lives to this day.

Flaunt: A number of magazines list the top X number of ways to please your lover. Anything missing on these lists typically?Beyonce: “If you have to read those lists, you’re already in trouble.”

Flaunt: What bores you?

Beyonce: “Lack of creativity. [source][photo source]

I agree fully with Beyonce about being bored with lack of creativity. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but one of the reasons I’m never bored is because I’m always thinking of ways to be creative whether on my natural hair YouTube channel and blog or over here on this blog and my Fashion channel.
