Whenever I saw a photo of a woman wearing a backless dress, a tinge of innocent jealousy would swim up my spine. They usually had smaller breasts and didn’t need to wear bras. I always felt that as a heavy chested woman, I couldn’t wear such things because I absolutely could not leave home without a bra on. And I could never find one of those fancy bras that you could wear any low-cut outfit in. They either didn’t make my size or never had my size.
When I first received this dress, I tried it on just about everyday, staring at myself in the mirror, trying to decide if I should wear it on my blog.
However, my fears have been diminished (at least little, anyway), and after shooting with BJM photography, I can say that I’m comfortable wearing a backless (or almost backless) dress with no bra. In other words, I don’t give a damn. *Kanye shrug*
Looking at the photo above for the first time, all I could see was the fat on my arms. Then, I thought of one of my favorite poems written by one of my favorite women:
“It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
And then I adjusted my crown.
