I’ve had my eye on the Steve Madden Marlenee sandal for a while now. (I always have my eye on some shoe.)
The sandal features leather upper material, man made sole and lining, as well as a 4.5 inch heel. It comes in a variety of colors and materials including mint patent, black, and fawn patent (as shown above), orange neon patent, red, and cognac (as shown below), and several floral prints as shown at the end of this post.
Macy’s also has them in cognac, and peter ($69.30), rhinestone (perfect for special occasions $116.99), black, and floral. Piperlime has them in black, cognac, fawn patent, and pewter for $100 and amazon.com has a few of the colors.
I featured this sandal a while back as a dupe for the Manolo Blahnik Chaos Cuff Sandal. Truth is, every designer/brand, that’s worth their name, has a pair of sandals in one of their collections that resembles this shoe.
The reason is because it’s one of the most versatile shoes you can have in your closet. It literally goes with everything. The only outfit I wouldn’t wear these with is a business suit. I would opt for a closed toe pump like the Jeffrey Campbell Darling pump because I think it goes better with the whole boss like mentality I adopt whenever I wear a suit. Sandals are more flirty.
But I digress. These shoes can be worn with pretty much any type of dress from cocktail, to bodycon. They also look bomb with skirts, especially pencil skirts (but what doesn’t look with a pencil skirt?), as well as shorts, and jeans.
If you’re looking at this shoe and thinking, “I can’t walk in those,” well there are many variations of this shoe that feature a thicker and/or shorter heel that’s easier to walk in. The Bamboo Senza 01 Black Single Strap High Heels ($31) from lulus.com has the same heel height, but it’s much thicker than the Maddens. They’re also available in chestnut.
