Sweets, Champagne and Shiny Jewelry

If there’s going to be sweets, champagne, and shiny jewelry, Brittany’s going to be there. As a fashionista, I’m always looking for a good reason to dress up. So, when Pandora Bay Street invited me to their “Girls’ Night Out” shopping event, I immediately knew what I would wear.

I bought the green leaf print jumpsuit I’m wearing from boohoo.com, aka #daplug. I get a lot of my basics, like pencil skirts and casual off the shoulder shirts, from boohoo.com. But every now and then, I find a gem, like this jumpsuit, that is certainly a statement item. I love how stiff the material is. I prefer a wide-leg culotte as opposed to one that just hangs. Structure and tailoring is everything when it comes to fashion.

One thing I can say about the Pandora Bay Street crew, they know how to throw a party. They celebrated their 2nd year anniversary in June and there was champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a lot of glamour. The “Girls’ Night Out” event was no different. The champagne was bottomless, the red velvet cupcakes (my favorite flavour) were as soft as, well, velvet, and they even stepped it up a notch by providing makeovers courtesy of makeup artists Sarsha Lepeche, Denise Francis, and Patricia Seymour-Bowleg, as well as hair styling by the ladies of the Blow Bar.

I was much more comfortable at this event than I was at the 2nd anniversary event. I’ve spent most of my blogging career locked in my bedroom behind my camera. Really, it’s the only way I could record and edit my YouTube content¬†while holding down a 9 to 5. I never even told anyone that I was a blogger. I would just live my life and if someone recognized me as “Kyss My Hair” or “Kyss My Style” from YouTube, I would mutter a coy, “Yea, that’s me in the video you saw,” and keep it moving.

Now that blogging is becoming more popular worldwide, and brands are increasingly capitalizing off of the reach of influencers like myself, I feel more comfortable embracing it and talking about it.

Just recently, I attended the relaunch of the L’oreal brand in The Bahamas and was featured in a newspaper article talking about blogging in The Bahamas. Things are changing for the better, and I look forward to every moment of it.
