If I Was Your Stylist | Fall 2015 5 Days of Monochrome | Burgundy kyssmystyle.com

Burgundy is one of my favorite colors. It’s a staple fall colour that gives off a certain richness that I love in fashion. It also transitions well into winter.

Go chic this fall and winter in a long sleeve slinky knot burgundy dress from Top Shop or a sexy strappy dress from Boohoo for a night out. I wore a black version of the latter to my birthday dinner.

Add a pair of strappy heels like these Aquazurra Belgravia dark burgundy suede pumps or these cut out heels from Go Jane, which are very similar, but more budget friendly. Check out these dupes for the Aquazzura pumps here!

Keep it classy with the structured Heroine textured-leather tote bag my Alexander McQueen or a quilted   Saint Laurent inspired purse from Forever 21. I have the latter in nude and I love it. Check it out in my latest outfit of the day post.

Lighten your outfit a little with a tailored white blazer by Aquazzura or this classic boyfriend blazer from Forever 21.

Add flair to your outfit by accessorizing with gold jewelry like this gorgeous pearl cuff bracelet and pearl earrings, both by Chloe.  Try a pearl cuff and statement pearl studs from Bauble Bar to save some coins.

I recently purchased a burgundy floppy hat as well as a pair of strappy heels, also in burgundy. I can’t wait to style it for you all.

If I Was Your Stylist | Fall 2015 Five Days of Monochrome | Olive Green

Fall 2015 Style Inspiration | Olive Green | kyssmystyle.com

This “5 Days of Monochrome” series is inspired by dream of always wanting to wear a monochromatic outfit, but never getting around to styling one. Olive green is one of Fall 2015’s most popular colors. I’m starting off with this color because I’d never thought I would actually like olive green. Funny how trends can change your mind.

Start your outfit off with a white, long sleeve bodysuit as a  because, well, everything can’t be olive green. The white gives the outfit balance. Boohoo has a cheaper version here. The appeal of bodysuits is that, even though you’ll have issues using the bathroom if it doesn’t open from the seat, once they’re on, they’re not moving. This means you don’t have to worry about your top annoying escaping from your bottom.

Add a little 70s character to your outfit with this trendy A-line olive skirt from Top Shop. A pencil skirt, like this one from Forever 21, is also chic.

It’s a little chilly outside, so you might want to pair your outfit with a flowy, loose-fitting jacket from Style Moi or this one from Forever 21.

Step in style in these strappy lace-up heels from River Island and add this cute PB 0110 olive half moon satchel. Go Jane has a less expensive pair of strappy heels (that I just might buy)  as well as these and these.

Throw a little shade in these Isabel Marant X Oliver Peoples Daria light gold olive sunglasses (or these from Go Jane) and you’re good to go.

Stay tuned this week for more monochromatic wine, grey, black, and blush.

If I Was Your Stylist | What to Wear This Weekend

posted on: May 16, 2014

What to Wear This Weekend | Date Night Outfit | kyssmystyle.com

You’ve been waiting for the weekend to come again since Sunday night. It’s finally here and now is not the time to be sitting on your bed, rummaging through clothes, trying to figure out what to wear.

Fashion trends are recycled every year, and spring trends usually include white, floral prints, and bright colours, such as yellow.

The outfit featured in this post is centered around a pair of white floral cigarette pants that I spotted on River Island‘s website. Floral prints are fun and flirty and the perfect focal point for any outfit.

To add sex appeal to the outfit, I chose a white crop top, also from River Island. If you prefer to be covered up, try this white tank top, which features a criss cross back.

To complement the bright yellow in the pants, I chose a yellow crop jacket from Topshop. It’s also available in white if yellow is too much for you.

It’s important for an outfit to be balanced. To complement the the white in the pants and the top, I chose a pair of white sandals from GoJane. They’re also available in black and brown. You could also wear blue shoes (similar to the shade of blue in the pants), but that shade of blue is hard to find. White shoes are easier to pair, and it makes more sense money wise because, come on, how often are you going to wear a pair of blue shoes?

For jewelry, I went with a triple curb links bracelet from and a gold quad link necklace, both from Baublebar.

Of course, nothing says “I’m cool” like a pair of aviators so I added a gold-tinted pair from Forever 21.

The pieces in this outfit are closet staples. You don’t necessarily have to have a yellow blazer or a floral pant, but having a basic pant, blazer, a tank top, and some basic, versatile sandals will make your life so much easier. This way, when your girlfriend calls you and says, “Be ready in an hour. We’re goin’ out tonight,” you won’t find yourself buried under a pile of clothing.

If I Was Your Stylist | What to Wear to a Graduation Ceremony

posted on: May 3, 2014

What to Wear to a Graduation Ceremony | kyssmystyle.com

Last year this time, I twerked across the graduation stage, and collected my diploma from the College of Saint Benedict.

That was a joke.

I did collect my diploma (actually my diploma case), but there was no twerking inovled.

This year, thousands of students will walk across the graduation stage, and into the real world. This post features and outfit that’s perfect for the occasion, whether you’re graduating or attending a graduation.

I started with a gorgeous black and white color block dress from River Island. It features mesh shoulder panels, an asymmetric front, and zip back fastening. Monochrome is a trend that will never go out of style because it’s classic.

For shoes, I chose a pair of  black, patent, ankle strap pumps, “Flshback,” by Steve Madden. If you prefer a closed in shoe, the Diba Dianna Patent Pumps from DSW are a good choice. I have them and I love them.

To add a pop of color to the otherwise monochrome outfit, I added a neon yellow clutch from Go Jane, and neon yellow earrings “Crystal Meteor Drops,” from Baublebar.

Lastly, I went with “Pink Flamenco” by OPI for nail color. I think it goes well with the neon yellow, and further adds dimension to the outfit.

Congratulations to all graduates making the transition from sleep deprived student to sleep deprived employee. Hey, it’s better to be sleep deprived and employed, than unemployed, well rested, and can’t pay your bills.
