If I Was Your Stylist | What to Wear to a Graduation Ceremony

What to Wear to a Graduation Ceremony | kyssmystyle.com

Last year this time, I twerked across the graduation stage, and collected my diploma from the College of Saint Benedict.

That was a joke.

I did collect my diploma (actually my diploma case), but there was no twerking inovled.

This year, thousands of students will walk across the graduation stage, and into the real world. This post features and outfit that’s perfect for the occasion, whether you’re graduating or attending a graduation.

I started with a gorgeous black and white color block dress from River Island. It features mesh shoulder panels, an asymmetric front, and zip back fastening. Monochrome is a trend that will never go out of style because it’s classic.

For shoes, I chose a pair of  black, patent, ankle strap pumps, “Flshback,” by Steve Madden. If you prefer a closed in shoe, the Diba Dianna Patent Pumps from DSW are a good choice. I have them and I love them.

To add a pop of color to the otherwise monochrome outfit, I added a neon yellow clutch from Go Jane, and neon yellow earrings “Crystal Meteor Drops,” from Baublebar.

Lastly, I went with “Pink Flamenco” by OPI for nail color. I think it goes well with the neon yellow, and further adds dimension to the outfit.

Congratulations to all graduates making the transition from sleep deprived student to sleep deprived employee. Hey, it’s better to be sleep deprived and employed, than unemployed, well rested, and can’t pay your bills.

If I Was Your Stylist | Blaze It Up

posted on: June 14, 2013

I like a laid back look for running errands or a lunch date on the weekends. I haven’t worn a long pair of jeans since I left Minnesota. I’ve been lacking sun, so I refuse to wear any thing that travels past my knees for while.

These basic bleached high-waisted short pants from Topshop (similar pair from Forever 21) are perfect for a summer day and are easy to dress up while still maintaining a casual comfortable look.

I’m in love with crop tops so to add a touch of sexy to this outfit, I paired the shorts with a black mesh cut-out turtle neck crop top from River Island. To add some pizzazz to the outfit to balance it out on the bottom, I chose to add a pointed toe leopard flat from Lulu’s, a style that’s trending right now.

One of the most common ways to dress up a casual outfit is to add a blazer. Blazers are a closet must have because they help you transform outfits. I chose an orange blazer from Topshop that is tailored for the gods. Tailored blazers cinch in your waist and create an hour glass figure. They tend to be a little more expensive, but Lulu’s and Forever 21 have less expensive options that still provide the look.

Also, the blazer covers up some skin as the shirt and shorts are revealing. Good outfits are all about balance to me, though that can be subjective.

Enjoy your weekend and stay out of trouble.

Peace, love, and happiness,
