OOTD | Purple & White | kyssmystyle.com

I’m fresh off of a trip to Florida and I’m still tired. There’s something about vacations that make me so tired. How ironic.

But, I digress. In an effort to update my blog regularly with “Outfit of the Day” posts, I’ve decided to enlist the help of photographer, Blair Meadows of BJM photography. We went to high school together so it was nice to shoot with someone I’ve known for a while.

Read and see more photos after the jump.

Outfit of The Day | How to Rock a White Blazer

Outfit of The Day | How to Wear a White Blazer | kyssmystyle.com

In my opinion, a white blazer is a wardrobe staple. I say this in most of my outfit posts because I believe building a working wardrobe entails investing in classic pieces that you can pair with multiple clothing items.

I purchased this blazer from Forever 21 a while back and I’m quite impressed with the crisp, clean and bright look it portrays.

All white ensembles are trending this spring, I’ve been begging my mother to sew me a wide leg, high-waisted pant, however she has made every effort to ignore my request.

I’ve been waiting to come across a pencil skirt to wear with this blazer for quite some time, and when I saw this abstract print skirt on River Island’s website, I knew it was the one. It has the white, to compliment white in the blazer, along with blue, orange and black.

I went with a royal blue spaghetti strap tank top, also from Forever 21, underneath the blazer. Funny thing was I didn’t even realize I had a top to match this skirt. I love when I find clothes that match exactly because that’s actually difficult to do.

Now, I’m just going to say that I hate the shoes I wore and I’ll probably never wear them again. I purchased them from urbanog.com because I couldn’t get the shoes I wanted from Charlotte Russe. They’re actually a dupe for the Aquazzura Amazon Lace-Up Leather Sandals. However, because the toe strap isn’t narrow enough, my foot kept sliding up to the front of the shoe, creating a crab like look.

Nobdody likes the crab-look.

I’m just happy I figured this out now before I wore this shoes to a party and kept having to do that awkward “balance each foot on heel” dance to guide my feet back into the shoes. That’s not cute.

If I had an opportunity to style this outfit again, I would go with a closed-in shoe or a minimalist shoe such as the Stuart Weitzman Nudist Sandal. Even better, I should’ve just worn my royal blue pumps and called it a day.

If you don’t care for white, note that the colorful skirt could’ve easily been paired with black shoes and a black blazer.

For jewelry, I wore my gold shell earrings from H&M, along with a gold necklace and ring from Forever 21.

I imagine getting a lot of wears of this blazer.

Outfit of the Day | Leopard Print is a Neutral Color

posted on: February 19, 2014

leopard print skirt

For many women, a little black dress is a closet essential. I feel the same way about a leopard print pencil skirt. I need to have one in my wardrobe.

In my opinion, just like black, leopard print is a neutral colour. It’s made up of colours that are neutral such as black, and shades of brown.

There’s not much you can’t pair with a leopard skirt because pretty much every solid color goes with it. Things start to get complicated when leopard print is paired with other prints, although I believe it can be done (think Solange). In this outfit of the day post, I paired my skirt with two solid colours: black and tomato red.

The skirt along with the black high low top (that you may remember from my 22nd birthday outfit post) are both are from forever21.com.

The good thing about leopard print is that it can never be upstaged so adding a pop of color will not shift the focal point away from the skirt. I paired the outfit with some orange key-hole pumps that I bought from charlotterusse.com about a year ago. Similar pairs can be found hereherehere, here, here, here, and here.

For jewelry, I kept it simple with a black and white bracelet from forever21.com, a 3-in-1 necklace, and a few hand chains that are from asos.com. (Photography by The F Dot Life)
